Terms of service
Last updated 4 October 2026
In short: pay for the plan you choose and the AI you use, billed through Shopify; cancel any time by uninstalling; we keep the service running, protect your data and never sell it.
1. The service
Basket AI provides AI product recommendations, fit advice, a size check, an AI shopping assistant ("Edie") and reporting for online stores ("the service"). These terms are between Basket AI ("we", "us") and the business that installs or signs up for it ("you"). By installing the app or using the console you agree to them.
2. Plans and billing
- Plans and prices are shown on our pricing page and in the app. Paid plans include a 14-day free trial.
- On Shopify, all charges are made through Shopify Billing and appear on your Shopify invoice. You approve the plan and a monthly AI usage cap in Shopify before anything is charged.
- AI usage is charged by tokens. Every AI answer or analysis uses tokens (small pieces of text the AI reads and writes). We charge the tokens used at the rates shown in the app, which are our AI provider's cost plus our markup. Usage is posted daily and never exceeds the cap you approved.
- You can change plan or cancel at any time. Cancelling stops future charges; charges already made are not refunded except where the law requires.
3. Your responsibilities
- Keep your product information accurate. Recommendations and fit advice are based on your catalogue, orders and returns, and are suggestions, not guarantees.
- Tell your shoppers about Basket AI in your own privacy notice and keep your store's cookie consent settings in place.
- Do not use the service to break the law, to send spam, or to try to reverse engineer, overload or get around its limits.
4. AI output
Edie and other AI features generate text automatically. Edie searches only your in-stock products and never adds anything to a shopper's cart without them tapping to accept, but AI can make mistakes. You can switch any feature off at any time from On your store and review assistant conversations in the console, and a daily limit on assistant use protects your AI spend.
5. Data
You own your store data. We use it only to provide and improve the service for you, as described in our privacy policy, act as your processor for personal data, and never sell it. We may use aggregated, anonymous statistics (which identify no store or shopper) to improve our models.
6. Availability and support
We aim to keep the service available at all times and to fix problems quickly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. If the service is unavailable, your store keeps working: recommendations simply do not show. Support is through our contact form, answered within one working day.
7. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, we are not liable for lost profits, lost sales or indirect losses, and our total liability in any 12 months is limited to the fees you paid us in that period.
8. Ending the service
You can stop at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or end the service for serious or repeated breaches of these terms, after warning you where we reasonably can. When the app is uninstalled, we delete your store data as set out in the privacy policy.
9. Changes and law
We will give you at least 30 days' notice of changes that affect you materially. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
